Here are some shots from throughout Peru, lots of awesome stories to tell from traveling this incredibly diverse country. We are currently in the Jungle in Pucallpa on our way to Iquitos tomorrow. We will be hanging out and exploring that area for the next 2 weeks. More shots soon.

For good shots that is. Today me and Rob went on quite the little excursion, which included 3 cab rides and 2 mini bus rides. We went to an amazing place called Moray. If you google Moray you will find many images of this tourist attraction. What you wont find is this less visited amphitheater-like terrace. The ancient Incas built these structures to study how agriculture grows at different levels. Each level having it’s own microclimate. (1st shot). The house you see in the distance in the first shot helps explain the second shot, we visited this home greeted by some beautiful and kind locals. The lady that greeted us was even kind enough to bring out her donkeys for some photographs. This was a very overwhelming experience, and I hope the shots here do it justice. The third shot is a quick shot I snapped in the streets of Cusco after visiting a local market. I must say so far I absolutely love Peru!

Not a subject I shoot often, but when the right opportunity presents itself I find myself pulling out the camera. On a quick note, none of these images are posed. I did not tell my subjects what to do for any of them. They are just moments in my everyday life that I was lucky enough to capture. As always, would love to hear what you think. Even if you are not a photographer :)

Back in august 08 I took a photo tour with one of the worlds premier Landscape photographers Marc Adamus. I learnt a great deal from this tour on a 3 day trek through Three Sisters Wilderness Region Oregon. I even came away with a few keepers! This is from a high ledge on our way to the backside of broken top mountain. In this shot you are overlooking the three sisters lit up with a crazy light show. The color in the sky came from high elevation smoke caused by field burning in the state of Oregon. This high level smoke gave us more than one light spectacle throughought our tour. Pretty amazing feeling standing here, shooting with such talented photographers. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Ever see something you encounter on a daily basis that looks strangely better? It’s probably because of better lighting!
Dryden Yatch Club was never something I had planned to photograph. This is a place that I would encouter daily in the summer months. A place I never recognized to have photgraphic potential.
On this late afternoon I forced myself to pull out the camera and make an exposure!
Sometimes I turn down the oppurtunity to shoot good light… and almost always regret it. Usually it’s because the subject matter in good light is of no interest to me. The light was so good on this day, it was almost as if the scene were begging to be photographed. I had the time and simply couldn’t resist. So here it is, in all it’s glory DYC!

Another early morning in the Canadian Rockies. This time I worked on making effective but simplistic photos, this shot “Marvel Crisp” is the result of my efforts. The trail around marvel lake as shown here is called “wonder pass” and for good reason. Some really stunning mountain scenics! A place I wish I could visit more often.

Camped out last winter on the frozen Athabasca river, near Athabasca Pass. I woke this morning to the sound of my timex watch beeping ignorantly in my face. It was still dark out. I stomped on my frozen boots, got dressed and stepped outside of my tent. The thermostat read -23celcius. Using my headlamp I walked down the river until I got to this opening in the river. A spot I had scouted out the night before. (the only opening I could find) I set up and waited for sunrise for quite some time. The sun finally popped through the clouds and instantly the mountains and clouds were lit up with intense color. I went from being in a “tired, hungry, cold” state to a “I’m loving life” moment. These rare light shows are when my concentration is maxed out. Nothing matters but getting at least one exposure that I am happy with. I think that actually happened this morning, when I made this image, “Exhilarating Light”
